Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 29 August 2026

Quotations
Where appropriate, The Local Hand will arrange a visit to assess the work, subject to the customer's location being within our service area. Following the assessment, a quotation will be prepared and provided to the customer free of charge, using the communication method agreed with the customer, which may include WhatsApp or email.

Acceptance of a quotation
A quotation becomes an agreement once the customer confirms that they wish to proceed. Confirmation may be provided by WhatsApp Business, email or another agreed method of communication.

Prices
Prices are calculated according to the estimated time required, the customer's location, the nature and difficulty of the work, and whether the work is classified as basic or advanced. Any applicable price or estimate will be clearly communicated to the customer before work begins.

Materials and additional costs
Unless otherwise agreed, The Local Hand will purchase the materials required for the agreed work. The cost of materials will be included in the quotation or invoice, as appropriate.

Where significant or higher-cost materials are required, The Local Hand may agree with the customer that payment for those materials is made in advance before the work begins.

If additional materials or costs become necessary because the actual requirements differ from those identified when the quotation was prepared, the customer will be informed before the additional cost is incurred wherever reasonably possible

Payment
Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice, unless another payment arrangement has been agreed in advance. Before payment is requested, the customer will have the opportunity to inspect the completed work and raise any immediate concerns regarding the agreed work

Cancellation and rescheduling
Customers may request cancellation or rescheduling of an agreed appointment by contacting The Local Hand as soon as possible. Where possible, we ask customers to provide at least 14 days' notice of cancellation.

Any statutory cancellation rights that apply to the customer under UK consumer law will not be affected by these terms.

Access to the property
By accepting a quotation and agreeing for work to be carried out, the customer authorises The Local Hand to access the relevant areas of their property, garden or other agreed location for the purpose of carrying out the agreed work.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that safe and reasonable access is available at the agreed time.

Delays and circumstances outside our control
Occasionally, work may be delayed or rescheduled due to circumstances outside The Local Hand's reasonable control, such as severe weather, illness, unexpected property conditions, unavailable materials, access problems or other unforeseen circumstances. Where this occurs, The Local Hand will inform the customer as soon as reasonably possible and discuss an alternative arrangement.

Workmanship and concerns about completed work
The Local Hand aims to complete all work with reasonable care and skill. If a customer believes that agreed work has not been completed properly, they should contact The Local Hand as soon as reasonably possible so that the matter can be discussed and, where appropriate, an opportunity can be given to inspect and rectify the issue.

Customer responsibilities
Customers are responsible for:

  • providing accurate information about the work required;

  • informing The Local Hand of any known issues, hazards or restrictions affecting the property or garden;

  • ensuring that reasonable and safe access is available to the agreed working area;

  • securing or removing valuable, fragile or personal items that could be damaged during the work;

  • obtaining any necessary permission from landlords, freeholders, neighbours or other relevant parties where required; and

  • ensuring that any necessary parking or access arrangements are available where applicable.

The Local Hand may decline or stop work where conditions are considered unsafe or where the requested work requires qualifications, permissions or specialist expertise that The Local Hand does not provide.

Additional or unforeseen work
If additional work becomes necessary after work has started, for example because an underlying problem could not reasonably have been identified during the initial assessment, The Local Hand will discuss the additional work and any associated cost with the customer before proceeding wherever reasonably possible.

Additional work will not normally be carried out without the customer's agreement.

Insurance
The Local Hand maintains Public Liability Insurance for its insured business activities. Evidence of insurance can be provided upon reasonable request.

Complaints
If you have a concern or complaint about our services, please contact The Local Hand as soon as possible at contact@thelocalhand.co.uk. We will discuss the matter with you and aim to resolve complaints fairly and promptly.

Governing law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply.

Quotations and unforeseen circumstances
Unless expressly stated otherwise, quotations are based on the information available at the time they are prepared. If the condition of the property or the nature of the work differs materially from what could reasonably have been identified during the initial assessment, The Local Hand may need to revise the quotation. Any significant change will be discussed with the customer before additional work is undertaken.

Scope of services
The Local Hand provides handyman, gardening, painting and decorating, catering and digital confidence training services. The specific services available may vary depending on location, availability, the nature of the work and the skills, equipment and qualifications required. The Local Hand reserves the right to decline work that falls outside the services it can safely and appropriately provide.
